We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came to the official opening for Insert Coin Here on Friday 12 March at 1000 £ Bend. It was great to see so many familiar faces (and fresh ones too!) and we hope you had a great night.
The vending machines sold out in a record 30 minutes, and if you managed to score some sweet goods, awesome! If not, hey don't worry as Insert Coin Here will be hanging around at The Thousands Shop in Curtin House, 252 Swanston Street, till the end of the month.
We're also super glad that Holly Fluxx from Melbourne Street Fashion came to the opening as she took some lovely photos as well as wrote a great article on the show (click here to read it). Thanks very much Holly, we really, really appreciate it!
Here are a few photos from the night as taken by Holly. When you're done perusing, make sure you visit Melbourne Street Fashion to view more images!
Insert Coin Herecomprises of two vending machines strategically placed in public spaces around the Melbourne CBD. Containing limited edition 'fashion objects' produced by over 60 Melbourne-based artists, the vending machines are activated when a member of the public inserts a $2 coin. The exhibition explores alternative interfaces of exchange for fashion, the mechanised system as a form of 'fashion dialogue'. More broadly, it thinks through discourses around public space and the role that fashion might play in it.
